"How awsome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven" (Genesis 28:17). EL RUHA Retreat Centre is located at Kottakadavu village in Kozhikode district. At the heart of the village, in 20 acres of hilly area is situated St. Paul's monastery and church. The monastery which is part of the Devamatha Province of Thrissur CMI Congregation, was founded in 1936 by Rev. Fr. Athanasiyus Payyappilly in 1936 itself, Rev. Father placed a miraculous crucifix at the church courtyard. This has been considered as one of the biggest crucifixes in Asia.

"Go out to the whole world, proclaim the gospel to all creation" (Mark 16:15). St Paul's House, situated against Arabian Sea, is rich in the scriptural downpours, divine praises and anointing of the Holy Spirit. As a fulfilment of the long-cherished expectations and prayers, especially for the great intervention of the Holy Spirit, God blessed to start a retreat centre under St. Paul's House, Kadalundy, on October 5, 2020 under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Raphael Kokkadan, Fr. Joseph Parathappilly and Fr. Dijo Payyappilly reached here as members of the monastery. Then as a sign of the powerful intervention of the Holy Spirit, His Excellency Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil, Bishop of Thamarassery granted permission to start a retreat centre at Kadalundi and on 19th April 2021, the Bishop performed the blessing of the retreat centre.

In the retreat centre by the name 'EL RUHA' which means 'Spirit of God', various spiritual services including spiritual sharing, residential retreats and one day conventions on all Saturdays have been started. By the grace of Almighty God, a YouTube channel has been launched to deliver the message of gospel across the word to get filled up with Holy Spirit, for spiritual and emotional healing and to accept Jesus as the lord and the saviour.

Fr. Raphael Kokkadan CMI

Fr. Raphael Kokkadan is a priest of CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) Congregation was specially chosen to lead the Lord's people in this era. He was born in 1983 and raised in Pudukkad, district of Thrissur, Kerala, India. He was grown up in a God fearing family with a firm Christian faith, modesty and tranquillity. In 2004 he joined the seminary to pursue his priestly formation. The word of God "I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth" (Isaiah 49:6) had strengthened him and reinforced God's special call to become a Priest.

Five months prior to his ordination, to the priesthood, while serving as a Deacon at St. Mary’s Church, Kattoor, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit began to manifest in him. From there onwards, he displayed and exhibited spiritual gifts encompassing the gist of healing, the gift of knowledge, the gift of tongues, the gift of prophetic insights and revelations, the gift of discernment of spirits, the gift of grace to hear God’s voice and the gift of deliverance.

Fr. Raphael was ordained to the priesthood on 27 December 2016, by His Excellency Mar Andrews Thazhath. Upon his ordination, he was appointed Assistant Vicar at St. Mary’s Church, Elthuruth. In 2018, he took on a new role at the Jerusalem Retreat Centre, broadened his ministry by arranging communal retreats within educational institutions and religious communities under the title "EL-RUHA." In 2020, during the COVID-19 times, he was transferred to St. Paul's House, Kadalundi, Kozhikode, as its Superior. On 19 April 2021, Fr. Raphael founded the El-Ruha Retreat Centre at Kadalundi, Kozhikode.

Fr. Raphael is particularly recognized for his emphasis and focus on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. His preaching is marked by a deep reliance and trust on the grace to hear the voice of God, through which he reveals the mysterious secrets of heaven to the faithful.
